The Teachers
Trudi started For Dancers Only in 2014, travelling around Australia to teach alongside Peter. Dean has been helping carry the heavy things since the 2015 event and now together they are producing the biggest one ever!
Peter and Lauren are two dynamic swing dance instructors with over forty years of teaching experience between them in the great classic dances of the Swing Era. Based in Seattle, they spend much of their time teaching at dance events and workshops all over the world.

Mix & Match
Strictly Lindy
Competitors are randomly partnered with a dancer of the opposite role and are judged as a partnership on how well they dance to part of a randomly selected song. They are generally free from pre-planned choreography and aerials. In this way, mix-and-match competitions are one of the closest ways to being able to judge a partnership’s ability to social dance, which is what For Dancer’s Only is all about!
Competitors choose their own partner beforehand and enter as a couple. They are judged as this couple in both the heat and the finals. Although choreographed sequences are not disallowed, the judges will be looking for timing, spontaneity, creativity, teamwork, technique, variety, musicality and connection to the music. Strictly Lindy is where you’ll see the tricks & aerials!

Helpers
Support Staff
You will be volunteering your time helping the FDO team over the weekend.
This is for 1 hour or 2 hours of help.
In recognition of the hours you will be taking out of your weekend at FDO, Support Staff will receive a refund of $30 once all their shifts have been completed.
This is for over 2 hours of help.
An event like this takes a lot of work to organise, but it’s when the weekend is underway that we need more hands to keep everything running smoothly.
We need people who can: lift heavy stuff, check off passes, decorate, look after a band, sweep, collect things, handle monies, sell tickets, answer questions, etc etc....
